Beyond Human Capital: Language as Institutional Capital and Its Impacts on Local Governance in Rural China
Remote Research Assistant, Led by Professor Zihan Hu
January 2026 - Present
- Analyzed China's National Fixed Point Survey (NFPS, 2003–2008) in Stata to examine how Mandarin proficiency affects rural residents' access to government subsidies.
- Implemented a Differencing Regression Kink Design (RKD) exploiting China's "Promote Mandarin" campaign as a quasi-natural experiment, with dialect-Mandarin affinity as the key differencing variable.
- Conducted balancing and density tests across three sample specifications; replicated baseline regressions with village/county fixed effects and two-way clustering by year and village.

Wage Discrimination in the English Premier League, Peking University Summer School

- Conducted econometric analysis using Stata to investigate wage discrimination between English and foreign players
- Employed web scraping techniques in Python to collect comprehensive player statistics
- Identified significant wage gap of 33.4% between English and foreign players with similar performance metrics
